SmartDocs Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 18, 2026
SmartDocs is a local-first document vault for scanning, organizing, and managing important personal documents. This policy explains what the app does with your information and how optional backend services work.
Documents and local storage
Your documents are stored on your device by default. SmartDocs is designed to scan, classify, search, and remind you about documents locally. We do not automatically upload your documents to our servers.
Permissions
SmartDocs may request camera, photo library, file picker, and notification permissions. These permissions are used to scan documents, import user-selected files, and send expiry reminders.
Advertising
The free version may show Google AdMob banner and app-open ads. Google may collect device identifiers, diagnostics, and ad interaction information according to Google policies. You can learn more from Google's advertising and AdMob privacy resources.
Optional backend services
The Laravel backend supports subscription checks, analytics events, optional cloud backup, and premium AI gateway requests. Premium backup and AI features require explicit user action before document context is sent to the backend.
Analytics
SmartDocs may send limited product analytics such as feature usage or subscription state. We do not intentionally log OCR text, document numbers, file names, or other sensitive extracted document content.
Security
SmartDocs uses encryption-oriented local storage patterns and platform secure storage for sensitive local keys. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, but the app is designed to minimize document exposure.
Your choices
- You can deny optional permissions, though some features may not work.
- You can delete locally stored documents inside the app.
- You can choose not to enable premium cloud backup or AI assistant features.
